SUMMARY:Ks for Katoke 2023
DESCRIPTION:Each year the Katoke Trust lays down a challenge. \nWould you take the journey to school alongside the Katoke-Lweru Secondary School students each day? \nOver the past three years you have risen to that challenge and together we’ve travelled thousands of kilometres and raised around $300\,000. These funds have helped to provide the vulnerable in Tanzania with education\, assistance in farming and much needed medical care. \nThis year we are aiming to reach another ambitious goal! \n100 Registered to run\, walk or ride; \n$100k Raised through generous donations; and \nThousands Reached with the precious gifts of education and health care. \nWill you help us by taking up the Ks4K challenge this June? \nHow you will be supporting those in need:  \nThis year there are three key needs in the Katoke area which include: \n\n\n\nBuilding 2 further classrooms costing $40\,000 each\nSponsorship of 10 enrolled children who urgently require financial support to be able to continue their education\nImprove the nutritional quality of food for the students \n\n\n\nHow to get involved: \nRegister before the end of May\, then get active… \n1.   RUN\, RIDE\, OR WALK – Set yourself a goal! Think about a distance or an amount of time that you can commit to each day for the month of June. Remember to set an achievable but challenging goal! Over the past two years we’ve had people walk for 20 days in June\, run 200km over the month\, or even cycle 200km in one day. You can set a goal that is as long or short as you like\, but be creative\, be courageous and take care. \n2.   REACH OUT – Tell your friends and family that you are participating in Ks for Katoke and ask them to help. Help us to reach 100 people participating by asking them if they would join you in the challenge as a ‘running mate’ or even build a team of friends or family to participate and to raise funds together!! \n3.   RAISE SUPPORT – This End of Financial Year we are boldly challenging ourselves to raise one hundred thousand dollars in order to continue our life changing work in Tanzania. Together we can reach this goal! So set a fundraising target (you can find some ideas below) and ask your networks to help you reach it! \n  \nHow much should you raise? \nWhile we told you to be wise in setting an achievable Run/Walk/Ride goal for Ks4K\, when it comes to donations we encourage you to be BOLD! If you don’t know where to start\, 1 3 2 0 is a simple yet valuable goal. It costs $1\,320 to provide one student with accommodation\, food\, health care and education at KLSS each year. $1\,320 can change a life. Could you raise the funds to support a child this year? Or if you’re prepared to think big\, could you raise the funds to support a child for the entirety of their secondary education? We believe you can. \nWhat you need to do now:  \nHead to www.ksforkatoke.org.au  (or hit button below) to REGISTER\, set your goals and get active! Then\, REACH OUT to your friends and family\, encourage at least one person to join you in this challenge\, and encourage the rest to support you as you RAISE funds for the Katoke Trust. \nJoin us\, as together\, we help transform lives.

SUMMARY:Ks for Katoke 2021
DESCRIPTION:In 2020 the Katoke Trust set you a challenge. Would you take the journey to school alongside the Katoke-Lweru Secondary School students each day? You rose to that challenge and together we travelled thousands of kilometres and raised over $50\,000 to provide the vulnerable in Tanzania with education\, assistance in farming and much needed medical care. \nThis year\, we are DOUBLING DOWN! Here’s the 2021 Ks for Katoke challenge… \n\nDOUBLE the number of people walking\, running & riding… 100 Participants\nDOUBLE the donations received… $100\,000 Raised\nDOUBLE the Trust’s impact in Tanzania… Thousands Reached with the precious gifts of education and health care.\n\nWill you help us DOUBLE OUR IMPACT this June?  \nHow to get involved\nRegister before the end of May…. then RUN\, REACH & RAISE in June. \n \n1. RUN\, RIDE\, WALK OR SWIM\nRUN\, walk or get active this June. Set yourself a goal! Set yourself a distance (km) or time target (mins).\nThink about a distance or an amount of time that you can commit to each day for the month of June. Remember to set an achievable but challenging goal! In 2020\, we had people walk for 20 days in June\, run 200km over the month\, or even cycle 200km in one day. You can set a goal that is as long or short as you like\, but be creative\, be courageous and take care. \n2. REACH OUT\nTell your friends and family that you are participating in Ks for Katoke and ask them to help. Help us to double the number of runners and riders by asking them if they would join you in the challenge\, you could even build a team of friends or family to participate and to raise funds together!! \n3. RAISE\nThis End of Financial Year we are boldly challenging ourselves to raise one hundred thousand dollars in order to continue our life changing work in Tanzania. Together we can reach this goal! So set a fundraising target (you can find some ideas below) and ask your networks to help you reach it! \nHow you will be supporting those in need \nThe Trust established the Katoke-Lweru Secondary School to meet the great need for secondary education in Tanzania. Through your ongoing support we have educated over a thousand students in the last 12 years.  \nIn 2020\, local families who were previously able to enrol their children have faced significant financial hardship. There are now many children who will only be able to continue their secondary education if we are able to raise funds to sponsor them.  \nThe cost of education in Katoke can be distilled down to one simple number. 1 3 2 0.  \nIt costs $1\,320 to provide one student with accommodation\, food\, health care and education at KLSS each year. $1\,320 can change a life. Could you raise the funds to support a child this year? Or if you’re prepared to think big\, could you raise the funds to support a child for the entirety of their secondary education?  \nWe certainly believe you can. \nWhat you need to do now: \nJump onto MyCause now and REGISTER\, set your goals and get active! Then\, REACH OUT to your friends and family\, encourage at least one person to join you in this challenge\, and encourage the rest to support you as you raise funds for the Katoke Trust.  \nTogether\, we can transform lives. \nNeed help registering? SUMMARY:2020 Katoke Annual Dinner At Home
DESCRIPTION:Katoke Annual Dinner At Home  \nFire up the oven and lay out the placemats – in 2020 the Katoke Annual Benefit Dinner is coming to you.  \nThe Tradies have hosted our annual benefit dinner for over 20 years – It’s a night that we all look forward to. It’s an opportunity to celebrate what we have achieved together in 2020 and raise much needed funds for the work of the Trust.  \nThis year the dinner will go ahead – but in a slightly different format. We are unable to hold a large event at the Tradies due to Coronavirus restrictions\, so instead\, we’ll be asking people to host a ‘dinner at home’. The ingredients will be the same;  good food\, conversation and entertainment…but this year it will be a much more intimate evening with hosts playing a key role.  \nCan you host a dinner? \nAs a host we’re hoping you’ll be able to; \n\nInvite 5-10 guests (or more if you have room) to your house for dinner on the 14th of November\nPrepare a meal to share – or ask you friends to bring a dish\nPlay a short video which provides an update on our progress in 2020 \nEncourage guests to take part in our virtual fundraising activity on the night (optional)\n\nRegister to host a dinner here\nI’d love to host\, what will I be provided? \nWe’re trying not to be too prescriptive around the format. SUMMARY:Ks for Katoke
DESCRIPTION:Are you up for the challenge?\nThe majority of Katoke-Lweru Secondary School (KLSS) students live on-site but some travel each day from local villages. In June we challenge you to take the journey to school alongside the KLSS students and help us RAISE $50\,000 so that we can continue to provide children with the priceless gift of education. \nHow to get involved\nRegister before the end of May…. then RUN\, REACH & RAISE in June. \n \n1. RUN\nRUN\, walk or get active in June\nSet yourself a distance (km) or time target (mins).\nHow far are you going to run or walk in kilometers each day? You might choose to set a time target instead  – be active for 30 minutes a day. \n2. REACH\nREACH out to your friends and family\, tell them about Katoke\, your fundraising goal and ask them to sponsor you. \n3. RAISE\nThis financial year\, we are looking for your help to reach our goal to RAISE fifty thousand dollars in order to continue to expand and maintain our current support for education in Tanzania. Already the Katoke Trust. \nJoin our (virtual) K’s for Katoke Launch Party on the 19th of May. Sign up here. \nHow you’ll be supporting kids in need\nThe money you raise will help the Katoke Trust continue its life changing work in Tanzania. \nSome of our immediate needs include \nSTUDENT SPONSORSHIP – The Trust established the Katoke-Lweru Secondary School to meet the great need for secondary education in Tanzania. Through your ongoing support we have educated over a thousand students in the last 11 years. But there are still many children who aren’t able to attend KLSS  due to their family and financial circumstances. Would you help us raise funds in order to sponsor these students? \nREMOTE LEARNING – The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the world in many different ways. Here in Australia it’s meant that most school students have been forced to study from home\, this is also the case in Tanzania. However\, KLSS students do not have their own school supplies\, textbooks\, stationery or even computers. Would you help us raise funds in order to equip teachers to support students and provide crucial supplies for these children? \nHEALTH LITERACY – A vital component of the Katoke Trust’s ongoing fight against poverty has been our malaria-prevention education program which has seen malaria reduced in local villages from over 60% of people infected per annum to about 10%. The Katoke Trust has been facilitating health education and equipping local villages with personal hygiene products in order to help combat COVID-19 in Tanzania\, where hospitals and healthcare are not readily available to all. Would you help us raise funds to support our ongoing malaria-prevention programs\, and provide health-care workers and local villagers with the means to combat COVID-19?.
